Living without money...

I just read a really interesting article on a man who has been living without money since 2000. I find it fascinating as I think the way we live is so out of touch with how things should be. One thing that bothers me is he does use some things that require money to maintain (i.e. writing a blog at a library that costs money, and of course the people who put together all of the blogging programs.) Yet, just because he uses things without paying for them, isn't really bad. If there was a way to create things like libraries and blogs without having to pay people for their work in money, that would be great-yet, I wonder how motivated we would be to achieve great things if it weren't for money? I can't really know, since I've never experienced a world without money. I wouldn't mind seeing a world where people used their talents and time to help others just for the value it brought the word, and not for their own personal gain to buy more useless objects. Anyways, check out Dan's blog Zerocurrency.blogspot.com

Eclipse July 2009!

There's going to be the longest eclipse of the year (and this century!) tomorrow! I normally don't get too excited about these, but this one is going to be really something special. It's going to be in the India, China, and Japan region but for the rest of us you can watch it online! Check it out online and watch it live on live-eclipse.org or if you miss live, I'm sure it will be all over youtube soon also.

What's in season?

I found some information on what's in season in Michigan right now in case you are wondering. I don't think human's were meant to live in cold climates, but if you are living somewhere cold, eating in season is a good idea. It's a good idea anywhere, but more of a challenge in colder climates. So for what's in season read about it here: http://localfoods.about.com/od/searchbyregion/a/michiganseasons.htm

It's a beautiful day for a Farmer's Market...

I just went to the Farmer's Market in Taylor. Yes, Taylor. Home of the most fast foods restaurants in a mile (I have never seen actual data for this, but it wouldn't surprise me if the rumor is true...just go down telegraph road! lol)It was a lot of fun, and they had a pretty good selection. I know a lot of cities this year are getting in on the Farmer's Market bandwagon and I couldn't be happier! There is one in Wayne too, which is supposed to be really good. I couldn't find any updated websites with all of the new Farmer's Market's out there this year, but call your local city government and ask if they have one in your city-you may be surprised! Get out there and support your local vendors and get healthy at the same time! :)
