Tooth Soap!

Ahhh, I love this stuff! My gums recently started bleeding, which, well freaked me out. I tend to brush really hard and my dentist had yelled at me for it, but I do it without thinking. My teeth just never feel clean with toothpaste. I haven't drank tap water since I think i was 12, and use a filter in the shower, but yet, I brush my teeth with it? So, I immediately stopped using tap water to brush my teeth, and I have been swishing with just water also after every meal! I'm not sure people appreciate me spitting my water out in restaurants, but I don't care! It makes my teeth feel so clean! I also added tooth soap and I'm just amazed! I bought the tooth swish also with the tooth soap. My teeth have NEVER felt this clean! It's the best stuff EVER, seriously. I had to become an affiliate and promote this stuff, it's amazing. I will never, ever go back to regular toothpaste! I usually hate natural toothpastes, but this is different. I feel like food doesn't stick to my teeth anymore, if that makes sense. There just is no coating or anything on my teeth, and I wake up feeling like I already brushed my teeth! It's weird, but the tooth swish tastes like mineral salt, which you would think is gross, but it actually makes your mouth feel great. I think it's because I tend to have a dry mouth, and the salt stimulates your natural salivary glands, and that automatically makes your teeth feel better. Your body knows what to do, it doesn't need fancy toothpaste or chemicals like flouride. Your own saliva, some water, and the right foods, and some tooth soap made out of natural ingredients,is all you need for great teeth! Have I mentioned yet that I love it? lol

I have also been doing Dr. Judd's protocal of 1 teaspoon of asorbic acid powder (vitamin c) with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in one inch of water. (after it dissolves you dilute with 8 oz. of water and drink it.) I haven't noticed a huge result from that, but it's only been a few days.

The bastard saffron that helps reduce belly fat...

Belly fat. Oh, boy. I hate it!! It seems the more I work out, the bigger my mom stomach gets! Nothing more fun than having your sister announce she is pregnant with her third kid, and feeling like YOU are the preggo one! I think it has to do with stress, and 2009 has been the most stressful year of my life! While I've included daily meditation/visualization and the flex belt (which, by the way, definitely works! Of course, you won't see the muscles too well unless you lose the fat, but the belt definitely builds up your stomach muscles...and I'm not even an affiliate for them, I just love the belt so far! I do have to warn you though, they try to upsell (convince you to buy related products) a ton of products after you purchase the belt, which is annoying, but worth it.) but I recently stumbled across an article on safflower oil in a magazine and did some more research. I guess it helps reduce stomach fat, and build lean muscle. The study was for postmenopausal diabetic women, but I've seen results for men as well. I may not be postmenopausal or diabetic, but I do tend to store fat in my stomach (ok, in my booty as well, but I don't mind it there haha) and it's all natural. I guess you want CLA, or polyunsaturated, but all I can find are the monounsaturated (or oleic) or safflower oil that doesn't really say what the difference is. I guess you can tell by how you store it, even if it doesn't say on the bottle, but I don't want to take any chances. I'm just going to buy it as a supplement. I guess they don't add anything to it, it's just safflower oil in a pill and it's called Tonalin. I will report back on how it works. Oh, and safflower oil is often used as a cheaper alternative to saffron oil and has been called bastard saffron. haha

30 day Green Smoothie Challenge

Be sure to check out michigan raw foodist Samantha at Color Wheel Meals and Rawkin Mom-she is doing a green smoothie challenge that you don't want to miss! I know personally that just adding a smoothie a day really changes you. Somehow, when you start your day off right, you don't want to wreck it by eating junk the rest of the day. Not to mention, green smoothies just make you feel really great! After the holidays, you will need to detox, and for $10 you can't beat the price. More info. can be found on Samantha's Rawkin Mom blog.

Merry (late) Christmas, and happy holidays! Raw Cheesecake :)

This year I was asked (ok, demanded!) to bring cheesecake. Since I punked out for thanksgiving and didn't make anything, I went all out for the cheesecake! I would recommend you do not wait until Christmas Eve to buy raw food ingredients since I had to go to THREE stores to find everything, and when the stores closed early (I accidentally bought figs instead of dates!!) I was out of luck. I know this is common sense for most people, but sometimes you just can't go until the last minute. Unfortunately, with raw food, this is not a good idea. I suggest you just pick up a regular cheesecake if you are going to do that! :) Ok, maybe not, I'm just venting ;)I just added some cane sugar to the recipe since I bought figs instead of dates, but I really think this would have turned out a lot better if I had used dates. Plus, I love that dates actually are sweet AND good for your teeth! I liked the cheesecake better than regular cheesecake because I felt less full after wards. Here is the recipe for Raw Cheesecake

Just Like Cheesecake
- by Emily Lee Angell

Makes: 24 slivers
Special Equipment: Food Processor

For the Crust:
2 cups raw macadamia nuts
1/2 cup dates, pitted
1/4 cup dried coconut

For the cheese:
3 cups chopped cashews, soaked for at least 1 hour
3/4 cup lemon juice (or lime juice)
3/4 cup honey
3/4 cup coconut oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon celtic sea salt (optional)

For raspberry sauce:
1 bag frozen raspberries
1/2 cup dates

DIRECTIONS
To make the crust, process the macadamia nuts and dates in the food processor. Sprinkle dried coconut onto the bottom of an 8 or 9 inch springform pan. Press crust onto the coconut. This will prevent it from sticking.

To make the cheese, blend the cashews, lemon, honey, gently warmed coconut oil (do not use microwave), vanilla, sea salt (if using), and 1/2 cup water. Blend until smooth and adjust to taste.

Pour the mixture onto the crust. Remove air bubbles by tapping the pan on a table.

Place in the freezer until firm. Remove the whole cake from the pan while frozen and place on a serving platter. Defrost in the refrigerator. (I didn’t defrost it all the way)

To make the raspberry sauce, process raspberries and dates in a food processor until well blended. (Do not use a blender for this or the raspberry seeds will become like sand.)

I put strawberries on it instead. Yummy!
